Fire TV is one of the easiest ways to add Fox IPTV to an existing television: plug the stick into a spare HDMI port, sign in with your Amazon account and install a player from the Appstore. The same steps apply to Fire TV Cube and to televisions with Fire TV built in, although menu names shift slightly between Fire OS versions.

Before you begin

Have these ready

The Fire TV device connected to the television and to your home network, with any pending system update installed.
Your Fox IPTV email with the playlist link or the username, password and server address, opened on a phone or computer.
At least a few hundred megabytes of free storage for the player and its guide data.
Optional: the Fire TV app on your phone, which gives you a keyboard for typing long addresses.

Which Fox IPTV details go where

Fox IPTV sends one of two formats: a single playlist link (often called an M3U URL), or three separate details — server address, username and password. Choose the option in your player that asks for exactly those fields. Typing a playlist link into a username box, or the reverse, is the most common reason a Fire TV setup fails.

Keep it private: your login works like a house key. Support never needs it posted in a public message.

Setting up more than one screen

Setting up several Fire TV sticks in one home? Give each player profile a room name such as “Lounge” or “Bedroom”. It makes it easier to see which screens are in use when you are close to your connection limit.

Setting up the Fire TV player

Search the Appstore from the home screen
Select Find (the magnifying glass) and search for an IPTV player. On older layouts, open Apps first and use the search box there.

Install one player from the Amazon listing
Pick a player whose listing says it supports playlists or account logins, check the developer name and install it with the normal Get or Download button. Fox IPTV does not require any particular brand of player.

Choose the matching login type
Open the player and look for an option such as Add playlist, Add user or Login with account details. Pick the one that matches the format in your Fox IPTV email.

Enter the details from your email
Type or paste each value carefully. Long addresses are easier with the Fire TV phone app keyboard. Check for a stray space at the start or end before you save.

Let the first download finish
The player now downloads the channel list and programme guide. On a first run this can take several minutes; leave it running rather than adding the account a second time.

Pin the player to your Fire TV home row
Once a channel plays, hold the Home button, open Apps, and move the player to the front row so the family can find it without searching.

After setup

Quick check on the TV

Two or three minutes of checks now saves guesswork later. Do these before changing any player settings.

Open two or three channels you watch often and let each play for a minute.

Press Back and confirm the remote returns to the channel list, not the Fire TV home screen.

Open the programme guide and check that the current show appears for at least some channels.

If something goes wrong

Fire TV problems and fixes

Find the message or symptom you see. If a fix does not help, contact support with your device model, player name and the exact wording on screen.

“Invalid login” or “Wrong credentials”

Check that you chose the same login type as the details in your email, then retype the password. Passwords are case-sensitive.

The channel list stays empty

Wait a few minutes on first load, then restart the player once. If it is still empty, restart the Fire TV from Settings › My Fire TV › Restart.

Pictures freeze on one channel only

Try another channel. If others play normally, the issue is likely with that one stream rather than your setup; mention the channel name when you contact support.

Everything buffers in the evening

Close other apps on the stick, pause downloads on other devices and, if possible, use an Ethernet adapter for Fire TV instead of Wi-Fi.

The player I read about is not in the Appstore

Listings vary by country and device model. Use another player that is listed for your Fire TV rather than installing an app from an unknown website.

Fire TV says storage is full

Uninstall apps you no longer use from Settings › Applications › Manage Installed Applications, then restart the device.
